Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, accounting, technology, professional services and international business. The city combines Cantonese traditions, Chinese festivals and global influences, with English widely used in workplaces. Life is fast-paced and convenient: public transport is excellent, housing is expensive, and popular leisure activities include hiking, beaches, dining, shopping and exploring nearby islands such as Lantau and Cheung Chau. International employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer under the General Employment Policy; applicants usually require a confirmed job, relevant qualifications and experience, and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Dependants may normally apply for dependant visas. Before relocating, candidates should budget carefully for rent, healthcare, deposits and schooling if applicable. Hong Kong’s subtropical climate includes hot, humid summers and occasional typhoons, while winters are mild and relatively dry.
