Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, travel services, events and related business support, particularly in Colombo, the southern coast, Kandy and the cultural triangle. The culture combines South Asian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and Christian traditions, with strong family values, festivals and distinctive cuisine. Colombo provides the most urban lifestyle, while coastal and inland areas offer a slower pace, beaches, wildlife and historic sites. Living costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although imported goods and premium housing can be expensive. Foreign nationals normally need an employment visa or residence permission arranged with support from the sponsoring employer; visitors should not work on a tourist visa. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, medical cover, taxes, relocation assistance and work-permit responsibilities before accepting an offer.
