Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state and island with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and retail. The culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, although accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Public transport is excellent, and popular areas include Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa and neighbourhood food centres. Foreign applicants generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; service roles may use an S Pass or another applicable permit, subject to salary, qualifications and government quotas. Employers normally manage the application process. Relocating candidates should budget for rent, transport, deposits, insurance and medical checks, and confirm accommodation, working hours, benefits and pass eligibility before accepting an offer.
