Destination Guide

Australia is an island continent with job opportunities in retail, healthcare, construction, hospitality, logistics, technology and agriculture. Major employment centres include Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra, while regional areas may offer work in tourism, farming and mining. Australian culture is generally informal, multicultural and community-minded, with a strong focus on workplace safety and work-life balance. Lifestyle options range from beaches and outdoor activities to busy city living, although housing and transport costs vary significantly. Most overseas workers need a visa, such as a working holiday visa, employer-sponsored visa, skilled visa or student visa with work rights. Check eligibility, age limits and employment conditions through the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Relocating usually requires budgeting for accommodation, transport, health insurance, tax registration and initial living expenses. Perth, where Booragoon is located, offers a relaxed coastal lifestyle but can have high rental costs.
