Major employment centres include Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide, although regional areas also offer work. The culture is generally informal, diverse and safety-conscious, with strong emphasis on fairness, punctuality and work-life balance. Lifestyle options range from beaches and outdoor activities to urban entertainment, but housing and transport costs can be high in major cities. People moving for work should check visa eligibility carefully; options may include employer-sponsored, skilled, graduate, student or working-holiday visas, depending on nationality and occupation. A valid work right, tax file number, bank account and suitable accommodation are normally needed.
