Destination Guide

Australia is a large island continent offering retail, hospitality, healthcare, construction, logistics, technology and agricultural opportunities. Major job markets include Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra, while regional areas may offer lower living costs and seasonal work. Australian workplace culture is generally practical, informal, safety-conscious and respectful of work-life balance. Lifestyle varies from busy city living to beach, rural and outdoor environments, with generally high living costs, especially for housing. Most overseas workers need a suitable visa and legal work rights. Working Holiday Maker visas, including subclasses 417 and 462, are common for eligible young travellers; employer-sponsored and skilled visas have stricter requirements. Retail roles do not usually guarantee sponsorship. Before relocating, check visa rules, wages, tax, healthcare, accommodation and transport, and ensure you have enough savings for initial expenses.
