Destination Guide

Taiwan offers strong opportunities in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, technology, electronics, manufacturing, finance, education, and international business. Taipei is the main base for multinational companies and provides excellent public transport, convenient healthcare, lively restaurants, and a generally safe urban lifestyle. Taiwanese culture values politeness, relationships, family, reliability, and careful communication; Mandarin is essential for many local-facing roles, while English is common in multinational workplaces. Living costs are moderate compared with major Western cities, although housing in central Taipei can be expensive. International employees usually need an employer-sponsored work permit and resident visa, with requirements depending on nationality, qualifications, salary, and role. Employers often assist with documentation, health insurance, tax registration, and relocation. Taiwan’s climate is warm and humid, with typhoons and rainy seasons. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, banking, mobile service, and local health-insurance enrollment after obtaining residence status.
