Destination Guide

The Philippines is an archipelago with varied opportunities across major tourism and business islands. Manila and nearby Luzon offer the widest range of luxury hotels, restaurants and corporate jobs, while Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Bohol and other resort destinations provide strong seasonal and year-round hospitality opportunities. Filipino culture is welcoming, family-oriented and service-focused, with English widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed beach communities; accommodation, transport and living costs are generally higher in resort areas and central Manila. Filipino applicants normally need standard employment documents and medical clearance. Foreign workers must secure an appropriate work visa or permit, usually with employer support, before legally working; requirements depend on nationality and contract. Candidates should confirm salary, service charge, accommodation, meals, transportation, probation terms and relocation support directly with the Shangri-La property. Weather, commuting and island connectivity should also be considered when planning a move.
