Job Description

The Service Manager – Procurement (Food Buyer) is responsible for sourcing food products, negotiating with suppliers, managing purchasing costs, and ensuring consistent quality and availability for hotel operations. Candidates typically need a degree in procurement, supply chain, hospitality, business, or a related field, together with several years of purchasing experience, preferably in a hotel or resort. Strong knowledge of local and imported food products, supplier networks, inventory controls, contract negotiation, and procurement systems is expected. The role requires commercial awareness, excellent communication, attention to detail, ethical judgment, and the ability to work with chefs, finance teams, and operational departments while meeting Shangri-La’s quality and sustainability standards.

Company Info

Shangri-La Group is a leading luxury hospitality company headquartered in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts, and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. Its portfolio includes Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN, and Traders properties. The company is known for personalized service, Asian-inspired hospitality, high operating standards, and extensive food and beverage offerings. In the Philippines, Shangri-La operates well-established luxury hotels and resorts, including properties in Manila and Boracay. Employees generally work in a structured, guest-focused environment with opportunities for training, internal mobility, and international exposure. Procurement professionals support the company by securing reliable products, maintaining supplier relationships, controlling costs, and protecting the quality standards expected across its hotels and restaurants.

Destination Guide

The Philippines offers hospitality and procurement opportunities in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Clark, and other tourism centers. Manila provides the broadest corporate and hotel employment market, while island destinations offer resort-based work and a more relaxed lifestyle. Filipino culture is generally warm, family-oriented, service-minded, and English is widely used in professional settings. Living costs vary considerably: Manila is more expensive, while many provincial and island locations are cheaper but may have fewer services. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, commonly arranged through the hiring company; requirements can change, so confirmation with Philippine immigration authorities is essential. Candidates should research accommodation, healthcare, transport, weather, and emergency access before relocating. Local staff may need valid identification, tax registration, and standard employment documentation.
