Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, safe and highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. The culture is multicultural, shaped by Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities, and English is widely used at work. Lifestyle is convenient but relatively expensive, especially housing. Public transport is excellent, with extensive MRT and bus networks, while food centres, shopping malls, parks and waterfront areas provide varied leisure options. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation; the employer normally submits the application. Before relocating, candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, medical coverage and pass eligibility. Singapore has a hot, humid climate year-round with frequent rain. A valid passport, recognised qualifications and relevant experience can improve employment prospects, particularly in international hotels.
