Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, retail, technology, finance, education and healthcare. Hospitality work is particularly available in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, and English is widely used in business and tourism. Lifestyle choices range from busy city living to relaxed island life, with generally affordable food, transport and accommodation compared with many international destinations. Langkawi is ideal for beaches and resort work, while Penang combines heritage, dining and urban amenities. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass arranged and sponsored by the employer before starting work; requirements vary by nationality and position. Relocating employees should budget for housing deposits, insurance, transport and document processing, and confirm tax and immigration obligations before accepting an offer.
