Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality, tourism, finance, technology and service-sector opportunities, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Its islands and coastal destinations provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, diving, rainforest excursions and a strong food culture, while cities offer modern transport, shopping and international communities. Malaysian culture is diverse, blending Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions; respectful dress and awareness of religious customs are important. Living costs vary, with Kuala Lumpur generally more expensive than smaller resort areas. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass sponsored by their employer, and must obtain approval before starting work; requirements can change, so applicants should check Malaysian immigration guidance. Relocation planning should include accommodation, healthcare, banking, transport and climate considerations. English is widely used in business and hotels, while learning basic Malay can help with daily life and workplace relationships.
