Destination Guide

Malaysia is more than an island destination, combining a modern peninsula with Malaysian Borneo and popular islands such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman and Perhentian. Hospitality opportunities are strongest in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Johor and major beach resorts, covering hotels, restaurants, wellness, events and tourism. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in tourism. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living to relaxed coastal communities; food, nature and relatively affordable living are major attractions. Foreign hires normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval handled through the relevant Malaysian authorities. Secure a written offer before relocating, confirm accommodation and benefits, and check tax, insurance and work-permit conditions. Tourist entry does not authorise employment.
