Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers diverse opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, logistics and professional services. Hospitality jobs are concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and major resort areas, with strong demand for candidates who speak English, Cantonese or Mandarin. The culture is fast-paced, international and respectful of punctuality, hierarchy and customer service. Lifestyle options range from dense urban districts and excellent public transport to hiking trails, beaches and outlying islands. Housing is expensive, so many workers share apartments or live in areas connected by the MTR. Foreign employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, with qualifications, a confirmed job and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally; rules vary by nationality and position. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, an identity card, health insurance and a local bank account.
