Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, travel services, wellness, transport, technology, education, and international business. Hospitality employment is especially concentrated in Colombo, Galle, Bentota, Kandy, and the southern and eastern beach regions. The island combines a relaxed lifestyle with tropical beaches, highlands, wildlife parks, historic cities, and a strong food and festival culture. Sinhala and Tamil are the official languages, while English is widely used in tourism and business. Living costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although imported goods and accommodation in Colombo or resort areas can be expensive. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored work or residence visa and should not work on a tourist visa. Before relocating, confirm sponsorship, contract terms, accommodation, healthcare, insurance, taxes, and transport. International schools and expatriate communities are available mainly around Colombo.
