Candidates are generally expected to have studies in logistics, transport, international trade, business or a related field, along with good organisational and communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, attention to detail, flexibility and an interest in freight forwarding are important. The role suits a practical learner who can work reliably in a fast-moving, international environment.

Company Info

DHL is a global logistics and transportation company operating across express delivery, freight forwarding, supply chain management and e-commerce logistics. It is part of DHL Group, headquartered in Germany, and serves customers in more than 220 countries and territories. DHL connects businesses through air, road, ocean and contract logistics networks, supporting industries such as retail, technology, healthcare and manufacturing. In Spain, its operations include parcel delivery, international express, freight forwarding, warehousing and transport services, with activity on both the mainland and the islands. The company offers an international working environment and places strong emphasis on customer service, operational reliability, digitalisation, sustainability and employee development. A traineeship in air transport can provide useful exposure to shipment coordination, documentation, customs processes and commercial logistics.

Destination Guide

Spain’s main island job markets are the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands. Opportunities are strongest in tourism, hospitality, retail, aviation, maritime transport, logistics, customer service and international trade. Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Mallorca and Ibiza have the broadest employment networks, while smaller islands offer a quieter lifestyle but fewer specialised roles. Island culture is sociable and relaxed, with strong local traditions, outdoor activities and excellent food. Living costs vary: housing can be expensive in tourist centres, especially Mallorca and Ibiza, while some Canary Island areas are more affordable. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can work in Spain with registration requirements; non-EU candidates normally need a work or internship visa and an approved placement agreement. Applicants should confirm accommodation, transport links, healthcare access and the exact island before relocating.
