Destination Guide

Australia offers employment opportunities in healthcare, aged care, disability support, nursing, trades, technology, hospitality and education. Regional areas such as western Victoria may provide strong demand for care workers and a lower cost of living than major cities. Australian culture is generally informal, multicultural and community-minded, with an emphasis on work-life balance, outdoor activities and sport. Lifestyle varies from coastal towns and beaches to rural communities and large urban centres. Most overseas workers need a suitable visa, such as a working holiday, skilled, employer-sponsored or student visa; eligibility depends on nationality, occupation, qualifications and age. Healthcare and care roles may require recognised qualifications, English-language evidence, police checks and sector-specific screening. Before relocating, budget for rent, transport, health insurance and visa costs, and confirm registration or employer requirements. Regional work may also involve driving between clients.
