Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in engineering, procurement, aerospace, electronics, technology, logistics, finance, healthcare and advanced manufacturing. Its workplace culture is professional, multicultural and generally fast-paced, with English widely used in business. Public transport is efficient, healthcare and public services are well developed, and neighbourhoods offer varied food, shopping and recreational options. Housing is the main expense, particularly near central districts, though public-housing rooms and suburban apartments can reduce costs. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and prevailing government criteria. New arrivals should arrange employment, pass approval, accommodation and health insurance before relocating. Singapore’s warm, humid climate, orderly environment and convenient regional air connections make it attractive for professionals, although living costs and competition for jobs can be high.
