Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in engineering, technology, manufacturing, marine, aerospace, logistics, finance and healthcare. English is widely used at work, and the multicultural population includes Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities. The lifestyle is convenient, safe and modern, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and easy access to neighbouring countries. Housing is generally the largest expense, particularly in central areas; shared accommodation or locations near MRT lines can reduce costs. Foreign professionals usually require an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and government approval. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, banking and tax registration. Singapore’s warm, humid climate and occasional heavy rainfall are important considerations when relocating.
