Destination Guide

Australia offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, reservations, food and beverage, housekeeping and hotel management, particularly in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and resort destinations. Workplaces are generally multicultural, professional and focused on customer service, workplace safety and inclusion. Sydney provides an active urban lifestyle with beaches, national parks, restaurants, public transport and a high cost of living; shared accommodation can help reduce expenses. Most overseas workers need a visa with work rights, such as a Working Holiday visa, employer-sponsored visa or another eligible skilled pathway. Requirements vary by nationality, occupation, age and qualifications, so applicants should check the Australian Department of Home Affairs before accepting an offer. Relocating usually involves arranging accommodation, tax and bank accounts, health insurance where required, and an Australian tax file number. Public transport makes central Sydney practical, though rent is expensive.
