Destination Guide

Taiwan offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, technology, education, and international business. Taipei and New Taipei provide the widest range of hospitality roles, while Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung also have active hotel and food-service markets. Life is convenient, with excellent public transport, affordable local meals, lively night markets, mountains, beaches, and welcoming communities. Mandarin is important for many daily interactions, although international hotels often use English. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work permit before starting employment, followed by an Alien Resident Certificate. Employers may assist with documentation, accommodation, flights, meals, insurance, and relocation, but benefits vary by contract. Candidates should confirm salary, service charges, working hours, overtime, leave, housing, and visa support before accepting an offer. Taiwan has a subtropical climate, so newcomers should prepare for hot summers, typhoons, and humid weather.
