Destination Guide

The Maldives offers employment opportunities mainly in resorts, hotels, restaurants, watersports, diving, spa services, aviation, construction, engineering, and marine conservation. Resort life is international and service-focused, with employees commonly living in shared staff accommodation and receiving meals, uniforms, and transport. Maldivian culture is influenced by Islamic traditions, South Asian heritage, fishing, and a strong connection to the sea; modest dress and respectful behavior are important outside resort areas. Lifestyle on a resort island is peaceful but remote, with limited shopping and entertainment compared with Malé. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Approval and work visa, arranged after arrival and medical checks. Employers commonly assist with flights, permits, accommodation, and relocation paperwork. Weather is warm and tropical year-round, with wetter monsoon months.
