Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a diverse country spanning the Malay Peninsula and parts of Borneo, with popular island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, and Sabah’s tropical islands. Job opportunities are strongest in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Langkawi, and resort areas, particularly in hospitality, tourism, technology, finance, healthcare, and education. Malaysian culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences, with excellent food and generally affordable living costs. Kuala Lumpur offers urban convenience, shopping, public transport, and a lively expatriate community. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass arranged before starting work; requirements depend on salary, qualifications, and nationality. Relocating usually involves a valid passport, employment contract, medical checks, accommodation planning, and tax registration. English is widely used in business, while learning basic Malay helps with daily life.
