Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied opportunities in hospitality, tourism, construction, engineering, education, technology, and consumer services. Bali is the most international destination for resort and hotel work, while Java—especially Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bandung—has the broadest corporate and industrial market. Sumatra, including Medan, offers growing opportunities in hospitality, plantations, logistics, energy, and regional business. Indonesian culture values respect, community, modesty, and relationship-building; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed coastal and island communities, with affordable local food and diverse outdoor activities. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate limited-stay visa, commonly arranged through the hiring company. Bring certified qualifications, allow time for document processing, and confirm housing, tax, insurance, relocation flights, and family arrangements before accepting an offer. Costs and traffic vary significantly by city.
