Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities across Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah, Sarawak, and resort islands. Kota Kinabalu is a relaxed coastal city with strong tourism, hotel, restaurant, diving, and event sectors. Life combines affordable local food, shopping, beaches, multicultural festivals, and easy access to islands and rainforest. Malay, English, Mandarin, and other local languages are commonly heard, while respect for different religions and customs is important. Rent and daily costs are generally lower than in Kuala Lumpur, although resort areas can be more expensive. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or an approved sector-specific work permit before starting employment; working on a tourist pass is not permitted. Applicants should confirm sponsorship, medical checks, contract terms, accommodation, transport, and service-charge arrangements with the employer. Malaysia’s tropical climate is warm and humid year-round, with heavier rain during monsoon periods.
