Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology, healthcare, and business services. Popular island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, and the Perhentian Islands provide resort and marine-tourism work, while Kuala Lumpur offers the broadest employment market and urban lifestyle. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in tourism and business. Living costs are moderate compared with many international cities, although central Kuala Lumpur and resort islands can be more expensive. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or another appropriate permit, and should not work on a tourist visa. Confirm salary, accommodation, medical cover, taxes, and visa sponsorship before accepting an offer. Island living can be seasonal, quieter, and more dependent on transport and weather.
