Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied opportunities across its main islands. Java, including Surabaya and Jakarta, has the broadest corporate, hotel, manufacturing and education markets, with busy urban lifestyles and relatively strong transport links. Bali is especially attractive for resort, tourism, wellness and events careers, although housing can be expensive in popular areas. Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Lombok offer growing opportunities in hospitality, energy, agriculture, mining and regional commerce, often with a slower pace and lower living costs. Indonesian culture values respect, community, modesty and relationship-building; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly beneficial. Lifestyle ranges from modern city living to beaches, mountains and island communities, with excellent local food and diverse religious traditions. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate limited-stay visa, arranged before employment begins. Relocation planning should cover housing, health insurance, tax registration, transport and school needs where relevant.
