Destination Guide

Phuket offers strong employment opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, sales, events, wellness, diving, transport, and property services. Popular areas include Patong, Karon, Kata, Kamala, Bang Tao, and Phuket Town, with different balances of nightlife, beaches, local communities, and commuting costs. Thai culture places importance on politeness, respect, patience, and appropriate dress, especially at temples. Island life brings warm weather, beaches, markets, seafood, outdoor activities, and a relaxed social atmosphere, although traffic and seasonal tourism pressures can be significant. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit before legally working; requirements vary by nationality and position. Employers may assist with documentation, but candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, benefits, and tax arrangements in writing. A practical relocation budget should cover deposits, transport, health insurance, and initial living expenses.
