Destination Guide

Fiji offers hospitality, tourism, culinary, marine, construction, healthcare, education and service-sector opportunities, particularly around Nadi, Denarau, Suva and the Coral Coast. The culture is welcoming and community-oriented, with strong iTaukei traditions, Indo-Fijian influence, church life, music and village customs. Fiji’s lifestyle is relaxed, tropical and outdoors-focused, with beaches, diving, surfing and island trips, although imported goods and accommodation can be expensive. English is widely used, alongside iTaukei and Fiji Hindi. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit before starting employment; requirements can include a contract, qualifications, police clearance and medical checks. Employers may assist with visas, flights, housing or meals, but this should be confirmed in writing. Relocating to resort areas is usually convenient, while Suva offers a more urban experience. Respect local customs, dress modestly in villages and follow workplace guidance.
