Company Info

Marriott International is one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, operating a broad portfolio of hotels and resorts under brands such as Marriott Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Westin and Sheraton. Its properties generally focus on consistent service standards, guest experience, employee development and responsible business practices. Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa is associated with Marriott’s luxury resort growth in Malaysia and is expected to appeal to leisure travellers seeking beaches, marine activities, wellness and high-end accommodation. A resort marketing communications team would promote the property through media relations, digital channels, travel trade partnerships, events and locally relevant storytelling. Employees can benefit from an international hospitality environment, Marriott training resources and opportunities to work with guests and colleagues from many countries.

Destination Guide

Malaysia’s Perhentian Islands are tropical destinations off Terengganu, known for clear water, coral reefs, diving, snorkelling, beaches and a relaxed island lifestyle. Hospitality offers the main employment opportunities, including hotel management, guest services, food and beverage, housekeeping, spa, marine activities, sales and marketing. Local culture is friendly and community-oriented, with Malay Muslim traditions shaping dress, food and daily life; modest clothing is appreciated away from beaches. Life is quieter than on the mainland, but transport, shopping and healthcare are limited, especially outside peak season. International employees normally need an employer-sponsored Malaysian employment pass, and should confirm eligibility before accepting a role. Relocation usually involves travel by road to Kuala Besut followed by a boat transfer, plus arranging accommodation, banking, insurance and medical coverage. Weather, ferry schedules and seasonal resort operations should be considered carefully.
