Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but Abu Dhabi is an island city connected to the mainland by bridges and causeways. It offers many opportunities in luxury hotels, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, finance, and technology. The culture combines Emirati traditions and Islamic values with a highly international workforce; respectful dress and behavior are important. Life is modern and generally safe, with excellent shopping, beaches, restaurants, public transport, and desert activities, although summers are extremely hot. Most foreign employees need an employer-sponsored residence visa and work permit. Employers commonly arrange medical checks, Emirates ID processing, health insurance, and sometimes accommodation or transport. New arrivals should budget for deposits, personal expenses, and document attestation, and should confirm salary, benefits, probation, leave, and repatriation terms before relocating.
