Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak, with demand across hotels, resorts, restaurants, wellness and tourism. Kuala Lumpur is a lively, multicultural city rather than an island, while Langkawi and Penang provide a more coastal island lifestyle. Malaysian culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with excellent food, festivals and generally welcoming communities. Living costs vary: Kuala Lumpur is more urban and expensive, while many island locations are quieter but may have fewer services. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or another appropriate work authorisation; working before approval is not permitted. Employers often guide visa applications, medical checks and documentation. Before relocating, confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, probation terms and whether meals or service charges are included. English is widely used in hotels, though Malay and other languages are valuable.
