Destination Guide

Qatar is a compact Gulf country rather than an island, with Doha as its main employment and lifestyle center. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, finance, and technology provide regular job opportunities. The culture is welcoming but conservative: modest dress is advisable in public, Islamic customs should be respected, and alcohol is restricted to licensed venues. Life is modern and convenient, with shopping malls, beaches, museums, restaurants, gyms, and desert excursions, although summers are extremely hot. Employers commonly arrange work visas, residency permits, medical checks, and sometimes accommodation, transport, meals, or flights; benefits should be confirmed before accepting an offer. Relocating employees usually need an authenticated passport, employment contract, photographs, and education or experience documents where required. Qatar has no personal income tax on salaries, but living costs, especially rent, can be high in central Doha.
