Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago with major destinations including Java, Sumatra, Bali, Lombok, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua. Lampung is on southern Sumatra, known for beaches, national parks and access to the Sunda Strait; Bandar Lampung is the main urban centre. Hospitality jobs are widely available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, spas, cruises and tourism services, with stronger opportunities in Bali, Jakarta, Java and established resort areas. Daily life varies from busy cities to relaxed coastal communities. Indonesian culture values hospitality, family, modesty and respect for religious traditions; Bahasa Indonesia is essential, while English is useful in tourism. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, and should not work on a tourist visa. Confirm current immigration rules, contracts, accommodation, healthcare and transport before relocating. Costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, though resort destinations can be expensive.
