The United Arab Emirates is a highly international country with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, construction, engineering, retail and aviation. Dubai offers a fast-paced lifestyle, modern transport, shopping, beaches and a large expatriate community, although rent and daily expenses can be high. The culture is multicultural but rooted in Islamic traditions, so respectful dress and behavior are expected, particularly during Ramadan and in public places. English is widely used at work, while Arabic is the official language. For most overseas employees, the employer arranges an employment entry permit, residence visa, medical examination and Emirates ID. Confirm who pays visa, accommodation, transport and health-insurance costs before accepting an offer. New arrivals should budget for deposits, documentation and initial living expenses, and verify that the contract is registered and compliant with UAE labor regulations.
