Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers a coastal lifestyle with beaches, marinas and waterfront communities. Dubai and Abu Dhabi provide strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, retail and facilities management, with luxury hospitality employers regularly recruiting international staff. The culture combines Emirati traditions, Islamic values and a highly international population; modest dress and respectful behavior are expected in public and workplaces. Lifestyle options range from modern shopping, dining and nightlife to desert trips, water sports and cultural attractions. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored work visa, residence permit and medical examination. Employers commonly arrange visa processing and may provide accommodation, transport, meals and health insurance. Before relocating, candidates should confirm the written contract, salary, working hours, benefits and accommodation arrangements. Summers are extremely hot, so air-conditioning and indoor activities are central to daily life.
