Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, offering opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, technology and finance. Hotels and resorts regularly recruit sales coordinators, receptionists, chefs, housekeeping staff and supervisors, particularly in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. UAE culture blends Emirati traditions with a highly international workforce; modest dress, respectful behavior and awareness of Islamic customs are important. Lifestyle options range from modern shopping and dining to desert activities, beaches and mountain trips. Employers normally sponsor an employment visa, work permit, medical examination and Emirates ID after an offer is accepted. Do not work on a tourist visa. Relocating employees should confirm salary, accommodation or housing allowance, transport, insurance, annual leave and flights in the contract. Costs are highest in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, while Al Ain is generally quieter and more affordable.
