Destination Guide

Jakarta is on Java, Indonesia’s most developed and economically active island, offering opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology, and education. The city is fast-paced, diverse, and multicultural, with strong food, shopping, arts, and entertainment scenes. Living costs vary, but commuting can be difficult, so accommodation near the workplace is valuable. Java has excellent transport links to destinations such as Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Bali, while Indonesia’s other islands offer opportunities in resort hospitality, diving, conservation, and tourism. Indonesian workplace culture generally values politeness, teamwork, respect for hierarchy, and relationship-building. Foreign employees normally require employer sponsorship and an appropriate work authorization, commonly involving a work permit and KITAS; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers may assist with immigration, relocation, accommodation, and medical arrangements, but applicants should confirm all terms before accepting an offer.
