Destination Guide

Bali is Indonesia’s best-known island for tourism and offers opportunities in hotels, restaurants, wellness, travel, events, retail, and tourism services. Ubud is quieter and more cultural than the beach areas, with strong connections to Balinese art, temples, agriculture, and traditional ceremonies. Life generally includes a warm tropical climate, scooter-based travel, affordable local food, and a relaxed community atmosphere, although traffic and seasonal tourism can be challenging. English is widely used in resorts, while Indonesian and basic Balinese are useful for daily life. Foreign nationals must have an Indonesian employer arrange the appropriate work authorization, usually involving a work permit process and KITAS; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocation commonly requires employer support, verified qualifications, medical documentation, housing planning, and private health coverage. Costs vary significantly by location and lifestyle.
