Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation and business services. Its culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. The lifestyle is safe, clean and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, varied food, shopping and easy access to parks and regional travel. Accommodation can be expensive, so many hospitality workers share apartments or live in areas outside the city centre. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, occupation and government approval. Employers normally handle the application, but candidates should confirm the pass type, deductions, accommodation and service-charge terms before accepting an offer. Relocation is straightforward but budgeting for rent, deposits and daily expenses is essential.
