Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities across hospitality, tourism, diving, food and beverage, administration, technology, education and conservation. Bali is the most international and developed island for tourism jobs, while Java offers larger corporate markets; Lombok, Flores, Sulawesi and the Moluccas provide growing resort and marine-tourism opportunities. Indonesian culture generally emphasizes courtesy, community, respect for elders and religious diversity. Lifestyle varies from busy cities to relaxed coastal communities, with affordable local food and transport, although imported goods and housing in popular areas can be costly. Manado is known for friendly communities, distinctive Minahasan cuisine and access to Bunaken’s diving. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work visa or limited-stay permit before working; tourist visas do not authorize employment. Employers often assist with permits, accommodation and relocation, but candidates should confirm contracts, benefits, taxes, insurance and permit responsibilities before moving.
