Destination Guide

Fiji offers hospitality, tourism, construction, retail, healthcare, education, marine activities and seasonal service opportunities, with the greatest concentration around Nadi, Denarau, Lautoka and Suva. Fijian culture is welcoming and community-oriented, with strong traditions of respect, family, music, dance and shared meals. Resort life can be rewarding but demanding, involving tropical weather, shift work and limited access to some urban conveniences. Living costs vary; accommodation and staff meals can significantly reduce expenses, so confirm these benefits before relocating. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and should not begin employment before approval. Requirements can include a valid passport, employment contract, qualifications and supporting documents. Research the permit process with Fiji Immigration and the employer. Expect warm weather, humid summers, reliable tourism infrastructure and easy access to beaches, reefs and outdoor activities.
