Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other islands in hotels, tourism, restaurants, wellness, diving, technology, education and international business. Bali is especially popular with expatriates because of its established hospitality industry, beaches, temples, creative communities and active social scene. Seminyak provides restaurants, nightlife, shopping and a comfortable international lifestyle, although traffic, seasonal crowds and rising rents are common. Indonesian culture values politeness, community, religious observance and respectful dress, particularly around ceremonies and temples. Employees should expect a tropical climate, scooter-based transport and a generally relaxed pace outside work. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate work visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Before relocating, confirm sponsorship, salary, accommodation, healthcare, insurance and tax arrangements. Costs vary significantly by island and neighborhood, while Bali housing can be expensive in popular areas.
