Destination Guide

Taiwan offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, technology, education, healthcare, and international business, with Taipei and New Taipei providing the broadest employment market. The culture combines Chinese traditions, Indigenous heritage, Japanese influences, and modern urban life. People generally value courtesy, family, reliability, and good food. Lifestyle is convenient and relatively safe, with excellent public transport, night markets, mountains, beaches, hot springs, and affordable local dining. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work permit and an appropriate resident visa; requirements depend on nationality, qualifications, salary, and job type. After arrival, registration and an Alien Resident Certificate are normally required. Employers often assist with permits and relocation, but candidates should confirm housing, health insurance, tax, and language expectations before accepting an offer. Mandarin is useful for daily life, while English is common in international hotels. Taipei living costs are moderate regionally, though rent can be significant.
