Destination Guide

Thailand offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, engineering, tourism, wellness, diving, retail, and customer service, especially in Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Pattaya, and Chiang Mai. Island life is relaxed and outdoors-oriented, with beaches, seafood, markets, temples, festivals, and strong community traditions. Living costs vary: Bangkok and major resort islands are generally more expensive than smaller towns, while transport and housing should be researched before accepting an offer. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and a Thai work permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers commonly assist with documentation, but requirements can change, so check with the Thai embassy and Department of Employment. Learn basic Thai, respect Buddhist customs, dress modestly at temples, and prepare for hot, humid weather and a seasonal rainy period.
