Destination Guide

The Maldives offers hospitality opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, diving, watersports, engineering, housekeeping, and guest services. Resort life is international and community-focused, with employees commonly living on the property in shared accommodation and receiving meals, uniforms, and transport or airfare benefits. Maldivian culture blends Islamic traditions with South Asian and Indian Ocean influences. Visitors and employees should respect local customs, dress modestly on inhabited islands, and observe restrictions on alcohol outside resorts. Life on a resort island is relaxed but can be busy during peak seasons; access to larger shops, hospitals, and entertainment may require travel by speedboat or domestic flight. Foreign workers normally require a valid employment approval and work permit arranged by the employer before or after arrival, along with medical checks and passport documentation. Candidates should confirm salary, service charge, accommodation, leave, insurance, airfare, and permit responsibilities in writing before relocating.
