Destination Guide

Qatar is a modern Gulf country rather than an island, centered around Doha and known for its safe neighborhoods, international workforce, museums, shopping, desert excursions, beaches, and growing tourism and hospitality sectors. Job opportunities are strongest in hotels, restaurants, catering, events, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, and business services. Local culture values respect, modest dress, hospitality, family life, and religious customs; alcohol is restricted to licensed venues. Lifestyle is comfortable but can be expensive, while summers are extremely hot and indoor facilities are widely used. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored work visa and residence permit. Employers commonly arrange accommodation, transport, medical checks, and sometimes meals or air tickets, depending on the contract. Candidates should verify salary, benefits, probation, contract terms, and recruitment fees before relocating.
