Destination Guide

Qatar is a modern Gulf country rather than an island, with Doha as its main employment and lifestyle hub. Hospitality jobs are available in hotels, restaurants, resorts, catering companies and event venues, particularly in West Bay, Msheireb, The Pearl and Lusail. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a highly international workforce; modest dress, respectful behavior and awareness of Ramadan customs are important. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are pleasant and suitable for outdoor activities, beaches and desert trips. Most expatriates live in furnished apartments or staff accommodation and use taxis, buses or the Doha Metro. Employers generally arrange a work visa and residence permit after issuing a contract; medical checks and document attestation may be required. Candidates should confirm salary, housing, meals, transport, flights, insurance, working hours and leave entitlement before relocating. Qatar has no personal income tax on salaries, but living costs vary considerably by area and housing choice.
