Destination Guide

Qatar is a compact Gulf country rather than an island, offering strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, events, and business services. Doha is the main employment center and combines modern malls, museums, beaches, desert landscapes, and international communities. Local culture values hospitality, modest dress, family life, and respect for Islamic customs; alcohol is restricted to licensed venues. Summers are extremely hot, while winter is more comfortable for outdoor activities. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored work visa and residence permit. Employers commonly arrange medical checks and other immigration procedures, while contract benefits may include accommodation, transport, meals, health insurance, and return airfare. Before relocating, confirm salary, working hours, accommodation, probation terms, leave, and visa sponsorship in writing. Qatar has no personal income tax on employment wages, but living costs in Doha can be high.
