Destination Guide

Bali offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, villas, wellness, tourism, events and guest services, especially around Seminyak, Canggu, Kuta, Nusa Dua and Ubud. The culture blends Hindu traditions, temple ceremonies, arts, dance and community life; respectful dress and behavior are important at religious sites. Lifestyle is generally warm, social and outdoor-focused, with beaches, surfing, diving, cafés and wellness activities, although traffic, seasonal tourism and living costs in popular areas can be challenging. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate Indonesian visa or stay permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Confirm requirements with Marriott and Indonesian immigration before relocating. Accommodation, health insurance, transport and meals should be discussed in the employment package. Learning basic Indonesian, arranging local banking and planning for rainy-season weather can make the transition easier.
